Wolviston pupils wear their uniform with pride. Our school uniform shows that we are part of our school community. We have the highest expectations for our children and this includes school uniform and appearance. School leaders, including governors, believe that wearing a uniform helps to promote positive behaviour, supports effective teaching and learning and contributes to the ethos of the school. Our children have told us that wearing school uniform helps them to feel settled, prepared for school and provides a sense of belonging.

We respect and promote equality and diversity within our school community. Our goal is to create a safe place without prejudice where children have the opportunity to thrive. Our School Uniform policy supports pupils’ religious, cultural and societal beliefs.

It is our policy that children wear full school uniform for daily attendance at school. It is expected that uniform items will also be worn when pupils are representing the school, including school visits and sporting fixtures, whether or not these are in school hours or away from the school site. Our expectations for presentation are written in our uniform policy. The School Uniform policy forms part of our Home-School Agreement.

We have ensured that items of our school uniform, supplied by Motiv8, are comparable in cost to other primary schools. We recognise the importance of value for money and therefore we would like to extend the wearing of school uniform PE kit until further notice. Branded sportswear clothing, no matter how small the logo, is not permitted. By removing branded items, we can ensure our school uniform meets all national regulations concerning equal opportunities whilst keeping costs down. Children who wear branded sportswear will be given reminders and may be required to change into items of spare PE kit held in school, if school PE uniform is avoided.

Additional Items

Having a book bag and bringing it to school every day, is part of our Uniform Policy and Home School Agreement. Other items below are optional.

Pre-Loved Uniform

We are mindful of the cost of school uniform and the fact that children grow so quickly, a pre-loved uniform shop has been set up in school.  This means that should parents require new uniform items such as ties, jumpers, cardigans and tank tops they can, for a small donation, purchase pre-loved items from the school office. Please ask for more information. Items of uniform which have been gently used are always welcomed into school for recycling.
